Pink Eye Prevention

The minute you see reddish eyes on a friend, do you want to take a rain check on talking to that person? Don’t fear! You can reduce your chances of getting conjunctivitis or pink eye.

If you have pink eye, be nice and make sure you reduce your likelihood of spreading it to your friends. Follow these steps:

  1. Wash your hands often with warm water and soap. If there isn’t soap, use an alcohol-based sanitizer like Avant Hand Sanitizer

  2. Avoid touching or rubbing your eyes

  3. Wash any discharge from your eyes multiple times a day. Hands should be washed fist. Then use a cotton ball to clean the eye area. Never use the same cotton balls. Wash your hands again after cleaning your eyes.

  4. Wash hands after applying eye drops or ointment.

  5. Do not use the same eye drop dispenser on un-infected eye as an infected eye.

  6. Wash your sheets in hot water

  7. Avoid sharing pillows, towels, etc.

  8. Clean eyeglasses

  9. Do not share makeup and brushes

  10. Do not use swimming pools

If you are with someone that has pink eye, follow many of the same step above!
